Who is Hideo Kojima?
Hideo Kojima is a Japanese video game designer, producer, developer and writer. During his childhood he had a passion for cinema and literature which led him to start filming short movies while at school with his friends. Kojima was hired in 1986 by Konami and later in 1987 designed and wrote Metal Gear for the MSX home computer, this game laid the foundation for both the stealth action genre and the metal gear series. In 2005 he founded Kojima Productions and became vice president of Konami in 2011. In 2015 Kojima and Kojima productions split from Konami and became an independent studio with their first game to be made independently produced called Death Stranding in 2019.

MGSV Sales

This article shows not only how many copies of MGSV had sold at the time but also how many more copies they would need to sell to make a profit, due to the game costing $80,000,000 to develop.
Metal Gear Solid?
Metal Gear Solid is part of the Metal Gear Series, with the themes of the games being a techno-thriller stealth action game created by Hideo Kojima.
Metal Gear Solid was the third game in the series to be made but was the first Metal Gear game to be in 3D thanks to the power of Sony's Playstation 1 and began to gain popularity worldwide.
Metal Gear Solid began to have many sequels and spin offs created in the years to come, with each future instalment being woven with one another with the originals to create an overarching story that spans the entire series, mainly about the effects of war and politics.

MGS2 predicting events
On a separate note but showing a major part of metal gears story telling using politics. An interesting piece of detail is how Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty's themes, concepts and ideas was able to predict Political problems that rose in the 2010s a whole decade before it happened. The themes the game used were "post-truth politics, alternative facts, echo-chambers, fake news, AI curated news feeds, information overload and political correctness."

Metal Gear Solid V
This is the main topic of discussion for this documentary.
Metal Gear Solid V : Ground Zeroes (MGSV : GZ) is a stand-alone prologue that sets up the story for The Phantom Pain and was released on march 18 2014. The prologue also contains side ops and extra ops that all take place on the same sandbox base. The game also has a cross save mechanic where you can port over your GZ save over to TPP to unlock extras when you start playing The phantom pain (TPP).
Originally the Ground Zeroes prologue was going to be part of the full game, but due to The Phantom Pain's very long development time left Konami taking it out of the game and making it's own stand-alone game.

Metal Gear Solid V : The Phantom Pain (MGSV : TPP) is the full MGSV experience released on September 1st 2015. The game like many before it was a stealth action but with a free roam twist to it like Ground Zeroes but on a larger scale. It is the ninth game in the series that was directed, written and designed by hideo Kojima himself following Ground Zeroes as well as being Kojima's last work that he made before leaving Konami later that year.
Kojima and Konami Break up
Below is my research tracker for my work and articles I did research on before the creation of my FMP video.
Research Evaluation
All of the articles and wiki pages that I used for this project were very informative and helpful. As I look back at my research, I'm quite happy with what I was able to find and use in my Documentary. I believe that I was able to fully utilise the research I accumulated for this project to the best as I could. Not all of my research ended up being in the documentary, but were still useful to me as they were still informative.
